Tessa Smallhorn
Tessa Smallhorn is a scenographer for live performance, specialising in lighting design, projection systems and content. She has worked on a wide range of productions and festivals in both creative, technical and production management roles. Production experience includes Technical Coordinator - QUT Theatre Republic (Brisbane Festival - 2013); lighting design for White Porcelain Doll creative development (Prying Eye Productions - 2013); Technical Coordinator for Children in Performance creative development (Natasha Budd – 2012); vision design for Dance Grad 2011 (QUT - 2011); and Stage Manager/Technician for The Empty City creative developments (The Human Company – 2009 & 2010). Qualifications include a Bachelor of Creative Industries (Drama) and a Bachelor Fine Arts (Technical Production) from Queensland University of Technology. In 2012, Tessa undertook a one-year intensive Honours research degree at QUT, studying the use and influence of interactive, real-time technology in the performance space. Her article 'The influence of digital technology on the performance space' presents a brief version of this research, and is set to be published in peer-review journal Studio Research (QAC) later this year.
